The function of Plano concave cylindrical lens is similar to that of flat concave spherical lens, but the flat concave cylindrical lens only works on one axis. These cylindrical lenses are used in applications that need to shape point light sources in one-dimensional direction. The typical application is to use a single cylindrical lens to convert the collimated laser beam into a linear beam. A pair of cylindrical lenses can be used to shape the image. In order to minimize the spherical aberration, when the beam is divergent, the light should be incident from the curved surface of the lens.
