Calcium Fluoride Windows
The working wavelength of calcium fluoride CaF₂ is from 180nm to 8000nm. It has good transmittance at ultraviolet wavelength. The calcium fluoride material is isotropic, and the light beam is not well transmitted in the calcium fluoride window, resulting in birefringence. The uncoated calcium fluoride window has a reflectivity of about 3% on each surface, and the transmittance through an uncoated calcium fluoride window is about 94%. Calcium fluoride has high moisture resistance, low dispersion (Abbe number 95) and low fluorescence characteristics (a small amount of impurities), and has good protection, chemical resistance and heat resistance. However, it has low hardness and is easily scratched. When used in a high humidity environment, if the temperature exceeds 600°C, calcium fluoride will degrade.
Calcium Fluoride Planar Windows are parallel plane plates that are often used as protective films for electronic sensors or external environmental detectors. Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) is suitable for infrared applications.
