Plano-concave cylindrical lens consists of a plane and a concave cylindrical surface, with a negative focal length. It is often used to focus parallel or divergent light beams onto a line or change the aspect ratio of the image.

Negative cylindrical lenses function similarly to plano-concave spherical lenses, but only along one axis. These cylindrical lenses are used in applications where a point source needs to be shaped in one dimension. A typical application is converting a collimated laser beam into a line beam using a single cylindrical lens. A pair of cylindrical lenses can be used to shape an image. To minimize spherical aberration, the curved surface of the lens should be oriented toward the source when diverging the beam.

These plano-concave cylindrical lenses are available in H-K9L and quartz. They are available uncoated and with four broadband antireflection coatings:
UV (250-400nm), VIS (400-700nm), NIR (650-1050nm), or SWIR (1000-1650nm).

There are some stocks available, and customization is also supported.
