Plano-concave cylindrical lens consists of a plane and a concave cylindrical surface, with a negative focal length. It is often used to focus parallel or divergent light beams onto a line or change the aspect ratio of the image.
UV fused silica offers high transmittance in the deep UV and virtually no laser-induced fluorescence (measured at 193 nm), making it ideal for applications from the UV to the near-infrared.
This series of negative cylindrical lenses offers excellent unidirectional beam expansion, making them useful for shaping a light source in one dimension. A typical application is converting a collimated laser beam into a line beam using a single cylindrical lens. Using a pair of cylindrical lenses can also achieve distorted beam shaping.
