Astronomical filters are divided into three categories: astronomical imaging filters (deep space/planetary photography), laser guided star AO system filters, and spectral astronomical specific filters

Narrow band filter for deep space photography

Core emission line standard wavelength:
H – α 656.3nm hydrogen alpha
H – β 486.1nm hydrogen beta
O-III 500.7nm oxygen triple line
S-II 671.6nm sulfur second-line
N-II 658.4nm (often overlapped with Ha)
Mainstream division of specifications:
Standard Narrowband FWHM: 3nm/5nm/7nm
Ultra Narrow FWHM: 1.2nm, 2nm
500.7 filter
656.3nm filter

Broadband/Color Astronomical Filter

1. UBVRI Johnson metering filter

Ultraviolet U, Blue B, Visible V, Red R, Near Infrared I, used for stellar photometry measurement and celestial color calculation.

2. LRGB color imaging filter

L (Brightness Transparent Filter)+R Red/G Green/B Blue, used for color deep space and planetary synthesis.

3. Planetary specific filters
IR pass infrared transparency filter: Suppresses atmospheric visual disturbances and enhances details of Jupiter, Saturn, and lunar surfaces
UV/IR Cut: prevents infrared leakage and corrects CMOS color drift

Light pollution suppression filters (CLS, UHC, LP)

UHC: Ultra high contrast, retaining Ha/III, cutting off most artificial light sources
CLS: Mild pollution use in urban areas with higher lighting
Adaptive optics AO/laser guided star specific astronomical filter
1. LGS laser guided star narrowband bandpass BP
589.159 nm Na sodium guide star
532 nm Rayleigh guide star
FWHM 0.1~2nm
2. Notch notch filter

532/589nm

3. Dichroic dichroic mirror

Reflecting laser guided star signals to WFS, transmitting celestial light to scientific cameras

Spectral astronomical special filter
Infrared astronomical filter (J/H/Ks band near-infrared astronomy)
J 1.25μm、H1.65μm、Ks 2.15μm
