3D Sensing Filter, also known as 3D camera narrowband infrared filter or biometric filter; Mainly equipped with structured light, iToF indirect flight time, dToF single point/area array ranging, VCSEL near-infrared active lighting system.

Three major 3D sensing solutions

Structured Light (FaceID, Front Face Recognition)

Standard wavelength: 940 nm

IToF indirect flight time (mobile phone rear ToF, AR, sweeping machine, industrial 3D camera)

940 nm (mainstream consumer electronics)/850 nm (early solutions, industrial vision)

DToF direct flight time (single point ranging, SPAD array, short-range Flash radar)

Wavelength: mostly 940nm; 905nm is selected for long-distance dToF section

Core categories of 3D Sensing Filters

1. Narrowband bandpass filter

Typical incident angle: 0 ° to ± 20 °, ± 25 ° (much larger than the conventional ± 8 ° for vehicle mounted LiDAR)

Reference for bandwidth selection:
Structured light facial recognition: FWHM 30-50 nm
IToF mobile phone/sweeping robot: FWHM 20-40 nm
Outdoor strong light dToF array: FWHM 10-20 nm
Cut off specification: 400-780nm visible light OD ≥ 4 (T ≤ 0.01%)
2. IR-CUT infrared cut-off filter (color RGB auxiliary camera)

Paired with a color camera inside the 3D module, it filters out infrared interference to ensure normal color.

3. Dicroic (transceiver module)

Reflecting VCSEL illumination beam; Transmitting and reflecting signals to image sensors, commonly used in miniaturized modules.
