Zinc sulfide window
CVD zinc sulfide (ZnS) is a chemically inert material with the characteristics of high purity, insolubility in water, moderate density, and easy processing. It is widely used in the production of infrared windows, fairings, and infrared optical components. Like zinc selenide (ZnSe) material, zinc sulfide (ZnS) is also a material with good refractive index uniformity and consistency. It has good image transmission performance in the 8~12µm band, but it begins to partially absorb after 10um. The material also has a high transmittance in the mid-infrared band, but as the wavelength becomes shorter, the absorption and scattering increase. Compared with zinc selenide (ZnSe), zinc sulfide (ZnS) has a high hardness and a fracture strength that is twice that of zinc selenide (ZnSe), and has a strong ability to resist harsh environments.
Zinc Sulfide Planar Windows are parallel plane plates that are often used as protective films for electronic sensors or external environmental detectors. Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) is suitable for infrared applications.
